If you’ve been using FireFox 3 for a while, I’m sure you’ve noticed the zoom feature, which supports full page zooming of both text and images.
Now, one thing I’ve noticed about this for quite some time, is that if you zoom in and out of a page repeatedly, the images on the page tend to go really blurry, even when you return to what appears to be the normal zoom level. I’ve had this problem for quite a while and I’ve been looking for a fix. Now I’ve found the solution, and I’m going to share it with you all, just in case you have a similar problem.
Disabling Sticky Zoom in FireFox 3
What Sticky Zoom does, is remember your preferences of the zoom level of each page you visit. This can be useful if you want to visit pages that are hard to see, and want to avoid having to re-zoom in every time you visit, or when images are too small. But, to me this seems like more of an annoying feature, and not just because it made my images messed up.
So, here’s how you disable it.
All of the tabs and windows you open in FireFox 3 should now reset to their base zoom level. Hope this helps.

Have any of you ever played the classic GameBoy game, Pyramids of Ra? It’s the game where you have to start on one tile, then move to every other tile in the room, while managing to leave a path back to the starting tile. If you fail to leave a path, you end up falling off the edge and losing. A similar puzzle was included in Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Seasons for GameBoy Colour.
I quite enjoy going to this site, oos.moxiecode.com (where we got the idea for oos.shadowthief.com, if any of you are familar to it.
). It’s mainly just a flash project site, where the author posts his recent projects. Quite an old one (using Flash 5
) is called Pyramids of Ra. After going to it, I realised what it was and associated it with the puzzles in the Zelda games.
I was reading the info down the bottom, and took note of the part “There are only 7 levels in this verison”.
So, after some difficulty, I managed to get to the 7th level, and spent a good 16-18 tries on it before I finally succeeded.
And then.. AN 8TH LEVEL? :O
I tried playing it, then failed once before I realised, it’s impossible! I’m so stupid, just look at the layout!

I have recently developed a love of Dilbert, the comic series created by Scott Adams. I had encountered it before, in Philosophy in year 9 and 10. There was an awesome series about humans and their hedonistic ways. I actually forgot that Dilbert was centered around business and information technology issues. Now that I’m more of a computer nerd than ever before, its more hilarious than I ever imagined. We’ve got some of them in our Software Design textbooks, so they’re always fun to read. ![]()
You’ll find me posting them from time to time, so here goes the first few, about hedonism.

I just added a new theme to my blog, as you may have noticed.
It’s called Dark Ritual, and I quite like it.
I do like tribal designs.
I find this one much more widget friendly, so I’ve added loads more of them. I will have to alter the templates though, because this fixed width is annoying me a bit.
What are your thoughts?
